Curricula NCZ, submitted by the Raad voor Inspectie & Begeleiding niet-confessionele Zedenleer (RIBZ)
The curricula for non-confessional ethics (“niet-confessionele zedenleer” – NCZ) were renewed in June 2017. Pupil groups are taught each school year in 3 of the 9 new theme fields. The themes are: identity; secular humanism; living together, democracy & citizenship; a range of philosophies of life: identity in dialogue; economics; science; environment and ethics; art; communication and media.
Through the curricula, NCZ teachers bring their pupils into daily contact with the values of secular humanism. In practice, this means that the pupils develop autonomy, moral thinking, humanisation, responsibility and meaning in their own philosophy of life. For more than 50 years teachers of NCZ have been working on the development of a personal life stance and meaning in the generation of tomorrow.
The curricula were drawn up by inspector advisers NCZ Ann Bogaerts, Eddy Borms, Filip Debrabandere, Annie Hermans, Martine Konings, Luc Meys, Frank Stappaerts and Marlene Stevens. The final editing was done by Eddy Borms, Martine Konings and Marlene Stevens:
