ONLINE BIBLIOGRAPHY
Based on its own research, CAVA maintains an online bibliography on:
- the history of secular humanism in Flanders and Brussels;
- the history of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and its academic community.
This bibliography contains both published sources and historical literature. Old and new publications are added on a regular basis, so researchers and interested parties can find a considerable amount of information here.
The online bibliography can be consulted via the specialised software Zotero. Note that Zotero does not support Internet Explorer, so please use a browser such as Firefox or Chrome.
In the middle of the page you'll find an overview of all works. On the right you see the bibliographic note with more information about the selected work (type of work, title, author, place, publisher, date, number of pages, etc.). You can use the search function at the top of the page (e.g. title, author, year, etc.) or the tags (subject labels) on the left of the page to look for specific works or topics.
In the bibliographic note you can see whether a work is part of the collection of CAVA (and can be consulted in the reading room) or if it's part of the holdings of the Central Library of the VUB:
- Library Catalog: location (CAVA or Central Library)
- Call Number: collection number
If you want to consult one or more works in our collection, you can do this during opening hours in our reading room. If the bibliographic note does not contain a location or collection number, we do not have a copy of the work in question. In that case, you can consult the Union Catalog of Belgian Libraries (UniCat) or the Flemish catalogue of Flemish and Brussels public libraries to find it elsewhere.
